What it looks at#

Matches the message against a curated list of cold-outreach phrasing: openers that address your site (“I noticed your website”, “first page of Google”) and template phrases from the usual pitches (SEO audits, link building, backlinks, web design and redesign, lead generation, outsourcing, “we are a team of”, “would you be interested”, “unsubscribe”).

It fires only with corroboration, so one stray phrase never does it. Either:

  • two different phrases from the lists occur in the message, or
  • one opener plus a service word such as SEO, traffic, marketing or redesign.

A customer asking “do you offer SEO?” has a service word and no phrase, so stays clean. The same phrase repeated counts once.

English only. The list has no entries for other languages; a pitch written in another language is not caught by this check.

Why it matters#

Contact forms are where cold agencies and link sellers land, because a form reaches a person. These messages are not malicious, but they are unsolicited and arrive in volume.

What to do#

Medium severity. Route it to a low-priority queue or auto-archive rather than rejecting the submitter: the rule is conservative but a real customer who writes like an agency can trip it.
